The health ministry has asked the relevant ministries of Public Security, National Defence, Transport and Foreign Affairs to join hands in supervising the signing of the medical declaration by people entering the country at all border gates

The decision follows an action plan issued yesterday by the Ministry of Health to prevent the Ebola virus infection from entering and spreading in Viet Nam.

The health ministry has asked the relevant ministries of Public Security, National Defence, Transport and Foreign Affairs to join hands in supervising the signing of the medical declaration by people entering the country at all border gates.

The ministry said yesterday that Viet Nam is yet to record any case of Ebola virus infection as of August 1.

However, an alert has been issued that the virus could enter Viet Nam via the Vietnamese people and other visitors arriving in Viet Nam from the affected countries in West Africa, the ministry said.

Therefore, the health ministry and concerned agencies are required to take action to prevent the entry of the disease, the ministry said.

The World Health Organisation's findings (WHO) released on Wednesday said that as of August 4, the cumulative number of Ebola virus infections in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone stands at 1,711, including 932 deaths
