The spa rankings are based on readers' ratings for ambiance, treatment packages, service, facilities and value for money, while hotel rankings are based on ratings for rooms/facilities, location, service, value for money and restaurants/food.

The honours form part of the 2013 World's Best Awards, the 18th annual event by Travel&Leisure, which remains one of the most-read magazines in the world.
